Sonosite iLOOK System Overview and Basic Operation
Identify the system components
The Sonosite iLOOK system is designed for vascular access.
Main components include:
Touchscreen display
Lightweight wireless L15-5 transducer
Integrated transducer holder with wireless charger
Articulating arm with adjustment handle
Stand with storage basket, tray, power-brick cable management, and lockable casters
Position the system
Use the system with its stand or an approved alternative mounting option.
Adjust the articulating arm for comfortable positioning.
Use the handle to push or pull the system.
Lock the wheel casters when the system is positioned for use.
Review the wireless transducer
The L15-5 wireless linear transducer is designed for handheld scanning from multiple bedside positions.
Its specifications include:
Frequency range: 15–5 MHz
Footprint: 38 mm
Scan depth: 1.2–6.2 cm
Vascular and arterial examination options
Power on the transducer
Press and hold the power button on the bottom of the transducer.
The transducer may be left on to maintain connectivity, according to the manufacturer’s guidance.
Charge and monitor the transducer
Place the transducer in the integrated holder to charge it wirelessly.
The indicator light:
White: Charging
Off: Fully charged
Flashing blue: Pairing required
Green: Connected and undocked
Yellow: Battery level below 25%
The charging dock includes a built-in cooling fan.
Power on the display
Press and hold the power button on the back of the display until the screen illuminates.
After initial startup, the system can remain in sleep mode.
Wake the system by touching the user interface.
Review the home screen
The touchscreen interface provides task-focused controls for vascular access.
The main home-screen modules are:
Scan: Opens the imaging application.
Help: Provides access to the onboard User Guide and Quick Guide.
System settings: Allows configuration of options such as date, time, and network connections.
Open the imaging application
Select Scan to navigate to the main image screen.
Use the imaging application to:
Perform patient examinations
Enter patient information
Review and export patient data
Access transducer settings
Select the appropriate examination type
Check battery status
Review the battery indicators in the upper-left corner of the scan interface.
Separate indicators are provided for the display and the transducer.
Enter patient and exam information
From the scan screen, enter the required patient information.
Select the appropriate exam type before scanning.
Adjust the image
Use the touchscreen sliders to make quick adjustments to:
Gain
Depth
Activate the center line using the Center Line toggle.
Switch between 2D imaging and color Doppler by selecting the C icon.
Use measurement tools
Freeze the image to access measurement features.
Calipers and catheter-to-vessel ratio calculations appear automatically when the image is frozen.
Access additional controls
Select the hamburger menu in the upper-right corner to:
Connect to a transducer
Access the Patient List
Access the Work List
Review basic examination settings
Open the User Guide
Return to the system menu
Select Quit to leave the imaging application and return to the System menu.
