  1. Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS)
  2. Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine Avulsion (AIIS)
  3. Acetabulum
  4. Labrum
  5. Pectineal Line
  6. Pubic Symphysis
  7. Femoral Head
  8. Femoral Neck
  9. Inter-trochanteric Line
  10. Greater Trochanter
  11. Lesser Trochanter
  • Palpate the ASIS (1) first.
  • Move 4 finger widths distal to ASIS (1) to the anterior hip joint.
  • Note the femoral head (7) and femoral neck (8).
  • The inter-trochanteric line (9) indicates the capsular attachment of the iliofemoral ligament (next slide).
