Supraspinatus Anatomy – Sagittal MRI Equivalent
The subacromial bursa lies between the fat pad of the deep deltoid and the fat pads of the superficial infraspinatus and supraspinatus.
- Lateral Deltoid Muscle
- Supraspinatus Tendon
- Humeral Head
- Peribursal Fat
- Subacromial/Subdeltoid Bursa
- Subscapularis Tendon
- Coracohumeral Ligament
- Superior Glenohumeral Ligament
The coracohumeral ligment (7) is on top of the biceps tendon, which prevents the biceps tendon from slipping underneath the supraspinatus under extreme stress.
The superior glenohumeral ligament (8) creates the underneath surface of the rotator cuff interval, which also keeps the biceps tendon out of the joint or from sliding underneath the subscapularis tendon.
