Greater Tuberosity Anatomy - Proximal over Humeral Head Cartilage

  1. Humeral Head
  2. Articular Hyaline Cartilage
  3. Supraspinatus Tendon (before insertion)
  4. Infraspinatus Tendon (before insertion)
  5. Biceps Tendon (within the interarticular rotator cuff interval)
  6. Subscapularis Tendon
  • This is showing the transverse view of the rotator cuff.
  • The presence of articular hyaline cartilage (2) confirms that there is no tendon insertion taking place at the humeral head (1).
  • The anterior facet terminates at the biceps tendon (5). The biceps groove does not extend any further superior than the humeral neck-head junction.
